The Carpetbag Theatre Inc. (Knoxville, TN) will participate in a project titled, The Women Gather, with Junebug Productions (New Orleans, LA). Peer-mentors and leaders will work collaboratively to create development projects and succession plans to ensure the sustainability of both African- American ensembles.
Dandelion Dance Theater (San Francisco, CA) will invite director, John Flax (Sante Fe, NM), to meet with Eric Kuper’s interdisciplinary ensemble, Bandelion, and Paufve Dance(Oakland, CA) to deepen their artistic relationships and to plan future touring.
Goat in the Road Productions (New Orleans, LA) will participate in an exchange with The Assembly (New York, NY) to further their newest work, Anesthetic, and begin a sharing of artistic knowledge. The project will also include a roundtable focused on board development.
HartBeat Ensemble (Hartford, CT) will travel to Bangalore, India to meet with The Indian Ensemble. The ensembles will begin to explore a new way of working together on an intercultural project that investigates the cultural phenomenon of offshore outsourcing.
Looking for Lilith (Louisville, KY) will send three artists to Guatemala this June as part of their Faith Stories Project. The artists will work with a group of both Ladina and indigenous women, using Theatre of the Oppressed techniques to assist the group in creating theatre workshops that deal with domestic violence in their communities.
New World Performance Laboratory (Akron, OH) will visit TAPIT/new works Ensemble Theater (Madison, WI) to explore further collaboration as they search for the optimal performance and workshop structure to showcase their individual approaches to ensemble work.
The Post Natyam Collective (Transnational, web-based coalition) will initiate a long-distance, web-based creative exchange with New Delhi-based director Aditee Biswas on the theme of cabaret and postcoloniality.
Varispeed Collective (Brooklyn, NY) and Alia Musica (Pittsburgh, PA) will visit one another to begin arrangements of a new operatic performance called, Perfect Lives Pittsburgh. During this period, the groups will also scout locations, begin rehearsing, and discuss future collaborations.
