Board Service

NET is reimagining what board stewardship can be. Our current board members are actively researching and co-designing a new governance model—one that moves beyond traditional nonprofit structures. We’re looking for ensemble leaders, practitioners, and experts in new world-building, strategic planning, and just transitions to help shape this vision and bring it to life.

Regional Convenings: Planning Committee

NET’s Regional Gatherings are built by and for our community—and this committee is at the heart of that process. These virtual sessions are a space for early ideation, collective decision-making, and decentralized planning to ensure that regional gatherings truly reflect the needs of our ensemble community.

Regional Convening Committee Recaps

  • Thank you to everyone who joined us for the first Regional Gathering Planning Committee meeting.

For those who couldn’t make it, here’s a quick summary of what we covered and how you can still get involved.

We began with introductions and a grounding activity to set the tone for our collaborative work.

Following this, we reviewed essential updates from the NETneXt initiative process, which focuses on deepening ensemble theater collaborations, shared leadership, and mutual aid across the field. Key values for our committee work, including collaboration, transparency, equity, and collective care, were highlighted.

These will guide how we plan and execute the upcoming regional gatherings. As part of our interactive session, participants completed a Mentimeter survey, where we ranked the top priorities for content areas at regional gatherings.

    The top three were:

    1. Community Engagement & Partnerships

    2. Artistic or Administrative Workshops by local Ensembles

    3. Resource Generation We also discussed the advantages and challenges of working collaboratively in a decentralized manner. While it fosters creativity and shared ownership, it can sometimes slow decision-making or lead to overwhelming ideas that need refining.

It is also important to note we all shared concerns about those living with increasing personal precarity.

You can find links to these important surveys in the deck we shared during the session, which is part of the RECAP folder. The folder also houses a recording of the session and the full Mentimeter report.

Your input is invaluable in shaping the direction of the regional gatherings and broader NET work.

Looking forward to the next steps, several participants expressed interest in joining the planning committee for the whole pilot process or their local gathering.

If you’d like to get involved, there’s still plenty of room to contribute in whatever capacity you have
