Art2Action Collective (New York, NY) will visit with ArtSpot Productions in New Orleans to exchange ensemble methodology and techniques, including a Grotowski-based training session and soundscape explorations. The companies will also explore the possibility of creating a new multi-media theater work titled Drone.
Cory Tamler (New York, NY) and Yinzerspielen will participate in a series of topic-based e-meetings with Turbo Pascal, an ensemble in Berlin, Germany. Their conversations will examine how ensemble-based theatrical explorations can be fostered over the Internet. The two groups will also meet in Berlin to advance their collaboration.
Flux Theatre Ensemble (Astoria, NY) will travel to Bethlehem, PA to observe Touchstone Theatre’s rehearsal process for a new play titled Odyssey Project. Flux Theatre Ensemble will return to Bethlehem for the final performance, and reciprocate by inviting Touchstone to NYC to see their new performance, Honey Fist.
In the Mix (Evansville, IN) will deepen a relationship with The Fourth Wall Ensemble(Indianapolis, IN). The companies will meet for a three-day retreat to share pieces from their current productions, to experiment with joint creations, and to explore possibilities for future exchanges and community connections.
Invincible (Detroit, MI) will visit Micha Cardenas and Patrisse Cullors, Los Angeles–based artists working on projects exploring community autonomy, violence, and mass incarceration. Cardenas and Cullors will also travel to Detroit to observe Invincible in the rehearsal room with Complex Movements. Both visits will include community learning circles and conversations over home-cooked meals.
Mondo Bizarro (New Orleans, LA) will meet with the organizers of The Clear Creek Festival in Berea, Kentucky to begin planning a three-week tour of Cry You One, a site-specific community performance. The visit will include meetings and interviews with community partners and local residents.
New York Neo-Futurists (New York, NY) will partner with Standard Toy Kraft (Brooklyn, NY) to provide company members with training in puppet making and design. The monthly workshops will lead to the creation of pieces for Soft Hydraulics: New Futurists Puppetry, NYNF’s Spring 2013 Development Lab Series.
Trisha Denton (Burlington, VT) and Tuppence Coloured Festival will perform an evening showing of Orkestriska's Box with live music and installations of projected dream sequences at the Arts Riot Gallery (Burlington, VT). She will also host a 90-minute ensemble training workshop open to the public.
The NET/TEN peer review panel for the Fall 2012 Seed Grants included: Deb Clapp, Executive Director, League of Chicago Theatres; Gerard Stropnicky, Independent Theater Artist; and Leslie Tamaribuchi, Director of Advancement and Enrollment, California Institute of the Arts.
