NET Welcomes Patricia Garza as Director of Programs & Engagement!
The Network of Ensemble Theaters (NET) is thrilled to welcome Patricia Garza (they/them) to our staff as Director of Programs & Engagement. They will start their work with us on November 9, and will be based in Los Angeles, California; NET’s operations are fully remote and geographically distributed, with staff members located throughout the country.
In this newly configured full-time position, Patricia will oversee NET’s programmatic activities—including the NET/TEN grant program, our Connector mobile app for artist-to-artist touring and resource sharing, events/convenings, and online field learning—as well as member engagement and marketing/ communications. With a passion for working with other theater professionals nationally on issues surrounding anti-racism, and a focus on the LGBTQIA+ community, Patricia shares NET’s commitment to advancing EDI (equity, diversity, and inclusion) toward collective liberation. We’re excited to draw on their experience and ongoing participation in artEquity’s National Facilitator Training alumni network, as NET amplifies and deepens our racial justice and cultural equity work within our organization, and with the national ensemble community and larger nonprofit performing arts field.
Patricia comes to NET from L.A.’s Center Theatre Group (CTG), where they were an artistic staff member for over a decade in roles spanning company management, new play development, education and community partnerships, and programming. For six years alongside former CTG Associate Artistic Director Diane Rodriguez, they worked with world-renowned international and local companies on multi-year projects that focused on collective and ensemble creation. Most recently, as Line Producer of Special Artistic Projects, they managed new play projects and artistic initiatives.
An active member of the national theater community, Patricia was selected as a Theatre Communications Group Young Leader of Color and as a Leadership U Continuing Ed grant recipient, and was chosen twice as a fellow for the Salzburg Global Seminar on Young Cultural Leaders. They are tapped frequently to speak at public events and facilitate group conversations; have led strategic planning processes as a consultant for El Teatro Campesino and Playwrights’ Arena; and were featured in Latino Leaders Magazine as a Club Leader for Los Angeles. Patricia has served as a Board member for Get Lit, L.A.'s leading nonprofit in teen poetry programs, and as a grant panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts, Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, and The Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, among others. They have an MFA/MBA in Theatre Management from California State University, Long Beach, and a BA in English with a minor in Theatre Studies from UC Berkeley.
