Micro-fest: Philly Travel

Travel and Logistics for Micro-fest: Philly
If you are coming from out-of-town here are few logistics to help you figure your way around.

Housing Options:
Hotel: The festival has made special arrangements with the Radisson Plaza-Warwick Hotel (220 South 17th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103) for festival participants. $109/night. Rooms may be reserved by emailing Simone McBean at simone.mcbean@radisson.com and letting her know you are with “NET Microfest.”

Best transport between CEC and Radisson will be the Market-Frankfort Line.
- after exiting the Radisson, walk toward Chancellor Street (if you go to Latimer St, you are going the wrong direction)
- walk to Market Street, turn right on Market Street
- walk to 15th Street, take the MARKET FRANKFORD LINE (Blue Line) toward 69th St Terminal (headed West). Subway will be $2 one way (or you can buy a bunch of tokens at the machines at 15th Street Station)
- get off at 34th Street. When you exit onto the street, you want to be walking UP the hill on 34th Street.
- The CEC will be on your left, Lancaster Ave, across the street from the 7-Eleven

Home-stays: Several generous artists in Philadelphia have offered up their homes, couches, futons, ect… If you are interested in a home-stay please email Liz Green at lizdgreen@gmail.com directly. This is a first-come-first-serve option. We encourage you to check in with friends you haven’t seen in a while and ask if they would love to see you…and let you sleep on their couch.

Another option is checking out www.airbnb.com. This website offers interesting low-cost homestay/bed-and-breakfast options.

Travel/Getting Around
Arriving in Philly
There are several options getting into Philly.

Train: Amtrak from NYC to Philly is about $35. The train from Baltimore and Washington DC ranges from $45-70. www.amtrak.com

Bus: The Bolt Bus from NYC to Philly is $15. – www.boltbus.com Check out the Chinatown Bus (Apexbus.com) or Greyhound (Greyhound.com) for cheap bus fares to Philly from Baltimore and Washington DC.

Air: From the Philadelphia Airport there is supposed to be a flat $25 charge from the airport to the 30th Street Train Station in West Philadelphia and vice versa. Or, you can take the SEPTA Train from the Airport to the 30th Street Station for $7 (cash) and transfer to several Bus, Subway, and Trolley lines from there.

Getting to the Community Education Center
Public transportation in Philly can be tricky but there a couple options for getting to the CEC. A landmark to know that you are in the right neighborhood is a 7Eleven on the corner of 34th and Lancaster.

Trolley: The 10 will drop you off at Lancaster and 36th. Walk 2 blocks south to the CEC.
Bus:  The 31 will drop you off at at 34th and Lancaster. Walk north to the CEC.
Subway: Take the Market Street (Blue Line) to 34th Street.  Exit and walk north 2 blocks (pass Filbert) and turn left onto Lancaster. The CEC will be on your left.

Fares are $2.00 and tokens are needed for the Subway. If you find a place to get tokens we suggest getting several because not all stations sell them and you can use them for the bus and trolley system.
