Since incorporation as a not-for-profit organization in 1988, About Productions has produced over 35 interdisciplinary theater works and educational projects. Ariel Dance Theatre - Austin, TX
Ariel Dance Theatre is devoted to cultivating multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural collaborations, and to bridging the creation of new work with our Interactive Arts Community Projects. Coatlicue Theatre Company - New York, NY
Coatlicue Theatre Company, founded by Elvira Colorado and Hortencia Colorado, was named to honor the Aztedc/Mexica deity of the earth and creation. The company was formed for the dual purpose of exploring and asserting their identity as indigenous women and to provide a voice for those experiences which were not reflected in the mainstream media. Their unique method is "storyweaving", where stories are interwoven and interconnected in layers and patterns as in a traditional huipil woven on a loom. Coatlicue Theatre Company addresses issues at work in the indigenous communities ranging from the grotesque to the poignant, from the deeply personal to global issues devastating their communities, utilizing humor.

Crowded Fire Theater Company - San Francisco, CA
Crowded Fire Theater Company is dedicated to discovering and developing work that challenges audiences to see the world differently. Founded in 1997 by a small group of artists, Crowded Fire has grown into one of the key players in San Francisco's independent theater community. Cultural Odyssey -  San Francisco, CA
Cultural Odyssey's mission is to stretch the aesthetic boundaries of American art by creating, producing and presenting original performance work that reflects the experiences of contemporary Americans and that is firmly rooted in African American music, dance and theatrical traditions. To implement its mission, Cultural Odyssey locally premieres original productions, presents the Cultural Odyssey Performance Series, conducts residencies, lectures and national and international tours. As well, it operates a community-based program entitled, The Medea Project: Theater for Incarcerated Women that serves female inmates, ex-inmates, and female community participants.

Fool's Proof Theatre is an international physical theatre company based in Liverpool. HartBeat Ensemble - Hartford, CT
HartBeat is dedicated to creating new works that challenge the status quo.  Our mainstage plays tell universal stories of everyday people who take action to better their world.  Through these stories we hope not only to entertain, but also to stir in people the desire to create meaningful change in their own lives and the lives of others.  Our Open Air performances bring free theater to public parks, streets and marches because we believe that theater can be an everyday part of everyone’s life regardless of economic status. Our educational workshops teach both youth and adults to use theater as a tool for personal and social change.  Through work inspired by Augusto Boal's Theater of the Oppressed, we help participants explore ways to alter current situations, external or internal, which adversely affect their lives.

Lisa Fay and Jeff Glassman - Urbana, IL
As movement-based theatre artists, the duo applies composed structures to ordinary behavior. Notated scores accompany their productions. 'Natural-looking' behavior is subjected to contortions and subversions, letting 'naturalism' show its socially constructed face. They invent new systems for organizing speech and movement in live theatre, similarly to how systems for organizing sound have been invented for composing music - for example, a technique for the orchestration of numerous split-second 'pivots' of time-place frames in complex patterns. The duo welcomes invitations to create works for and with ensembles.

Looking for Lilith - Louisville, KY
Looking for Lilith collaboratively creates original plays based on women’s history and women’s experiences. These plays are based on extensive research done by the company and often rely heavily on histories and first person narratives. LFL also has a strong commitment to community and educational outreach and offers a wide variety of residencies involving their artists.

Los Angeles Poverty Department was founded in 1985 in acknowledgement of the inherently social process of theater. Los Angeles Poverty Department (LAPD) creates performance work that connects lived experience to the social forces that shape the lives and communities of people living in poverty. The group ahs historically used theater with other means of public education, organizing, and partnering with other ensembles and individual artists and arts organizations and with a large group of social justice and direct service organizations.

Mondo Bizarro is a New Orleans based arts production company dedicated to the creation and performance of original multi-disciplinary work. Our vision is to participate in the betterment of our community and the expansion of its consciousness while instilling the sentiments of fun, play, and imagination into a common public experience through the hosting, nurturing, and performing of the arts. We seek to bring together elements of regional, national and international arts with various community organizations and local citizens to create an understanding of what makes us commonly human and individually unique.  To date, our production credits include original work in theater, film, festival organizing, oral history, and ensemble development.  Though diverse in nature, all of our productions are linked by a strong desire to develop bold original works of art collaboratively.

Mountain Top Theatre was founded with the intent to create Zion, the city of Holiness, where the people are of one heart, one mind, and no poor dwell among them. The New York Neo-Futurists are a collective of wildly productive writer/director/performers who create theater that is a fusion of sport, poetry, and living-newspaper.  Our performances are non-illlusory, conveying our experiences and ideas as directly and honestly as possible.  Our aim is to influence the widest audience possible by keeping our ticket prices affordable and our productions intellectually challenging, yet accessible.  We embrace those unreached or unmoved by conventional theater, inspiring them to thought, feeling and action.

Out of Hand Theater - Atlanta, GA
Out of Hand Theater, featured in American Theatre Magazine as one of the hottest young companies in the country, creates high energy physical theater Events. Out of Hand makes live theater accessible and exciting by involving the audience in a  new way in each show, as well as through our extreme physical style. We produce three shows a year: one great work of literature, one company-created show and one piece designed for performance in spaces not designated for theater. In addition, we train as an ensemble in our signature Boot Camp physical theater workshops and hold Boot Camps for high school and college student groups and for theater professionals in our community. Founded in 2001, Out of Hand is one of the only companies in Atlanta that produces original work through ensemble creation. We are committed to developing new audiences by creating substantive work which engages and appeals to our city's youth, specifically in the 18 to 35-year-old range, as well as to the theater-going community at large. Pontine Theatre - Portsmouth, NH
Pontine Theatre has been a ground-breaking force in the blossoming of actor-based theatre, creating work that is engaging, innovative and original. Pontine's work is founded on the concept that the actor should function as a creative (rather than interpretive) artist, and that the name actor dictates action (movement) as their primary tool. Serious Play! Theatre Ensemble - Northampton, MA
