About kocoloco

kocoloco ensemble & community-based arts in Denver, Colorado is a home for the development of artists, practices, vocabularies and performances in the Rocky Mountain region. We provide a site for creative, rigorous, critical exploration of the intersections of personal and social narratives, identities, stigma and transformation, and resources for individuals and organizations interested in questioning and testing the power and potential of theatre in today's world. The progeny of Ko Theater Works (founded in 1991) and the Ko Festival of Performance, kocoloco fosters curiosity, courage and excellence in performance and writing, collaborative work, devised theatre, interactive, cross-cultural, interdisciplinary and facilitated arts. Our mission is to think critically about theatre and community even as we create forms, relationships and structures, new collaborations and new work. We are committed to diversity, ethical inquiry, and-- like others before and beside us-- to making visible the invisible.
