Dear NET colleagues,
Once again it is time to register for our annual NET Gathering. The NET gatherings have become a hallmark of the organization and one of our strongest assets. We hope that you will join us August 11-15, 2008 in wonderful New Orleans for our annual national gathering of the Network of Ensemble Theaters.

After weighing various options, we decided to go to New Orleans for several reasons. First, this is a city that is still in recovery and our presence will support local businesses and artists. Second, NET wants to increase our presence in underserved areas, like the South. Lastly, as anyone who has been to NOLA knows, it's just a good place to be. This summer's gathering will be focused on:

Art. Workshops and performances to share the thing we do best: making art! Ensemble and Community. Recovery efforts and ensembles practices come together.

The registration fee is $350 for members and $450 for non-members. This includes three days and three nights of accommodations, lunch, a down home dinner, evening performances with "happy hour" cocktails. We will also provide shuttle service between the airport (Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport) and hotel.

A travel subsidy is available up to $250.

The registration deadline for the gathering is July 1st. NET registration begins at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 11 at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel located in the heart of New Orleans' the French Quarter. The first gathering event will be a welcome reception on Monday night. Wednesday and Thursday events will start at noon, so you can have the morning hours to explore the city. A full schedule of events for the gathering is in process and will be made available by July 15th. Look for updates on the NET website.

Dear Colleagues: 

NET is currently seeking proposals for performances and workshops to take place at the National Gathering this summer in New Orleans, LA. We’re interested in returning the focus of the meeting to the process of art creation. As such, we’re asking NET members to propose performances and workshops that reflect the diverse creative processes employed by ensembles and how these methods manifest themselves in our work and values. If your company has a production that can travel easily or if you would like to lead a workshop, please contact us. 

We do have the ability to provide registration assistance/subsidies for anyone who participates in performances or workshops. Please consider this when crafting your proposal 

All performances will be held at Le Petit Theater Theatre du Vieux Carre in the French Quarter. This 92-year-old community theatre had its inception back in 1916, supported in part by funding form the Federal Theater Project.  The space is an intimate, 25ft x 20ft cabaret stage that seats approximately one hundred and fifty people.  

On the final evening, after dinner, there will be a Cabaret Night in the theater. A CD player and a piano (without player) will be available. Sign up for the cabaret will be done at the gathering. So, don't forget to bring what you need to show off your talent.
